A few weeks ago we set up our own worm farms in plastic bottles using soil, sand, leaves and a few worms. We covered the bottles with black paper as worms like the dark. We kept the materials damp and left them for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks we checked the farms and found that the worms had eaten some of the leaves and burrowed down through the different layers of soil and clay and mixed the layers together. This showed the importance of worms to keep our soils healthy.
